ULT 2020

Scope of ULT

The ULT conferences have been triennially held to discuss frontier of physics in condensed matter systems at temperatures below 1 Kelvin. The aim of the conference is to identify new research directions, and to discuss technical challenges and innovations. Ultralow temperatures have not only been opening up novel quantum physics, but also contributing to modern quantum information science that have been rapidly developed in the last decade. The ULT conference is also intended to bring together a broad community of researchers, spanning the field, to forge links between different scientific communities.

ULT2020 will include various research topics:
* Quantum fluids, solids, and gases
* Unconventional and topological superfluids and superconductors
* Strongly correlated condensed matter systems
* Quantum hydrodynamics, particularly quantum turbulence
* Magnetism, particularly quantum spin liquids
* Quantum phase transitions and criticality
* Ultralow temperature techniques and its application to quantum information science

The first ULT conference was held at Hakone, Japan in 1977, to encourage the initial development of ultralow temperature physics in Japan. It was after five years of the discovery of superfluidity in liquid helium three, by which the nobel prize in physics was awarded to four scientists, Douglas Osheroff, Robert Richardson, David Lee (1996), and Anthony Leggett (2003).. Since then, ULT has been held as a satellite conference of LT conferences. Here is the list of the past ULT conferences ((LT..) indicates the preceding LT conference and its venue):
